Dr. Ulrike Schimpf

I am trained as chemist (Prof. L. W. Kroh / TU) and hold a PhD in biology with specialization in biochemistry (Prof. W. Lockau / HU, Prof. G. Westphal / IASP, Prof. B. Linke / ATB and HU). Thereafter, I was recruited as project leader at the private research institute IASP with focus on applied science. During my employment, I was establishing and managing a laboratory unit for enzymatic, spectroscopic and chromatographic analysis, and acting as Principal investigator / Team leader. In 2017, I moved from Germany to Sweden, starting as post-doctoral scientist and continuing as researcher under Dr. Thomas Crouzier at the KTH. I joined the company Cirqle Biomedical, Denmark in 2019 as consultant and shareholder. Since 2021, I became permanent researcher at KTH. In the same year, I founded the company USCB Consulting to advise, teach and research. In 2022, I started a part-time job at the Stockholm University as Laboratory Safety Manager. One year later, I combined the roles of Lab Safety Manager and Researcher at Stockholm University. I highly appreciate industrial collaborations, care about lab safety, and interact with undergraduates to support scientific thinking. Teaching of chemistry, biopolymers and risk management on different university levels was and is an exciting part of my daily diversified working life.
